Moab - Detailed Itinerary
June
Moab, Utah

Day One: We will begin our trip at the Grand Junction, Colorado Airport, then on to a hotel in Moab, Utah.

Day Two: Morning pick up at our hotel for the first leg of our journey. Today we will ride 15 miles (not including side trips) through Canyonlands National Park, through pine forests, over table top plateaus and through red rock canyons.

Day Three: Today we will ride 12 miles (not including side trips) and hike to the Anasazi Indian ruins, precariously placed on a ledge 200 feet up the cliff wall.

Day Four: We ride for 17 miles (not including side trips) from Hammond Canyon, a land of geologic complexities, where the Abajo mountains in the distance are contrasted with the red rock at their feet, and on the Sego Flat, one of the best Mule Deer and elk habitat in the state, where large herds may be visible.

Day Five: A 28 mile ride today (sag option) through the Abajo Mountains, a roller coaster of a ride where we will find spectacular overlooks.

Day Six: We conclude our biking segment of the trip with a 16 mile ride through Jackson Ridge to Monticello passing through diverse vegetation zones, beginning in the firs, descending through aspens to pinyons and junipers to scrub oaks. At day’s end, we return to our hotel in Moab.

Day Seven: A day of well-deserved rest to rejuvenate for our next adventure. Tonight we will meet at the Gonzo Inn at 7:00 p.m. for rafting orientation.

Day Eight - Thirteen: We will be transported to put in on the Colorado River and begin on a peaceful stretch. We will soon reach the confluence with the Green River. Along the way we will raft, swim, and enjoy the white sand beaches, Willow and Tamarisk trees, and see the occasional Anasazi ruins, pictographs and petroglyphs on the side of the red canyon walls. We then find ourselves at the beginning of Cataract Canyon, home of some of the largest white water in America. Our rafting trip comes to an end at Hite Marina from where we will take a short flight back to Moab.

Day Fourteen: Reluctantly return to Grand Junction for our return flight.
