The Gardens of St. Vincent - Detailed Itinerary

Day One: Machias staff will meet you at the airport to escort you to our private cover. The joyful expectation entering the quiet water is immense - befitting the payoff. After the first of many excellent and colorful meals, a local geologist will describe the island’s rocks and the formation of the Soufriere Volcano. We will discuss our week’s activities.
Day Two: We will visit the Hadley Gardens with orchids and anthurium growing in spectacular array. This afternoon, choose from activities such as hiking up the Soufriere Volcano, tour the island’s capital, with its fascinating history and unusual native crafts, churches and visit Fort Charlotte, built in 1806.
Day Three: A guided gentle walk along the trails leading through the mystical rain forest displays the secret beauty of the rain forest. This afternoon, choose from the many daytime activities included in your trip.
Day Four: A visit to the Hadley Gardens highlights our day in this Alice-In-Wonderland world, drinking their beautifully cared for gardens of anthurium, lilies and the myiad exotic flowers. Your choice of activities this afternoon. This evening we can study the stars that seem so close you can touch them.
Day Five: Today we can travel by boat past the tall cliffs of the coast, watching for the whales and dolphins who live there. Arriving at Baleine Bay, we will swim in and hike up the river canyon to the dramatic 100 foot Falls of Baleine, swim in the perfect pool at is base, then enjoy a picnic lunch on the coast. After another spectacular dinner set on a table decorated with hibiscus we can learn about the large variety of local sea life.
Day Six: Start our day with a guided tour of the Botanical Gardens, the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. This afternoon we can sail to Bequia, an exceptionally picturesque island nearby. Port Elizabeth, its largest town, sits in the edge of Admiralty Bay. You can shop and browse along the main street or enjoy swimming and relaxing on the beach. Our last night together brings a spectacular island feast, served in traditional style, accompanied by live local music - a truly memorable time.
Day Seven: Sadly we leave to return to the airport. We will bring fond memories, more than a little peace of mind and probably a vow to return.
The all-inclusive cost is $2,450.00 per person based on double occupancy. Our trip begins and ends at St. Vincent Airport. Included are accommodations, all meals, tours as listed and hotel taxes.
