Tom founded Machias Adventures in 1976 out of a desire to share with others the kinds of wilderness experiences that shaped his own life. He has led backpacking and canoeing expeditions throughout the eastern United States and Canada, and in Montana, Colorado, Labrador, and St. Vincent. A lifelong outdoorsman, Tom knows and values the significance of times spent in the woods: the old is transcended, new awareness grows, new definitions are developed, and life is forever experienced a little differently.
